Dr. Michael Bornstein opened his private practice in Fort Bend County in 1993. He established roots in the community and his private practice grew into the Pediatric Center in 2000.
Dr. Bornstein received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Cum Laude honors from Harvard University. He completed Boston University School of Medicine training in May of 1990. After residency, and internship at the University of California, Irvine he received his certification from the National Board of Medical Examiners, Neonatal and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and the American Board of Pediatrics. He has hospital affiliations at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. Dr. Bornstein is affiliated with many medical organizations and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Bornstein is married with two sons.
   

 


 

     


Pediatric Center is happy to welcome Dr. Robert Bornstein, affectionately known here as Dr. Bob.
Dr. Bob is a Board Certified pediatrician who cared for patients in Massachusetts from 1961 until his recent move to Texas. As a youth, Dr. Bob was an extraordinary student who graduated high school at sixteen and college at nineteen. He attended Brandeis University as an undergraduate and earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Bob completed his internship and residency at the New England Medical Center and Boston Floating Hospital where he earned the highly regarded position of Chief Resident. He was a Commissioned officer in the army where he cared for military families in Virginia.
We are so pleased that Dr. Bob and his wife have chosen Fort Bend County as their home.

Dr. Knoebel
Dr. Kathleen Knoebel has been a valued associate at Pediatric Center since 1998.
She received a B.S. in Biology in 1991 from Yale University in New Haven, CT. Dr. Knoebel received her Medical Degree in June of 1995 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in June of 1998. She has staff privileges at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. Dr. Knoebel received her board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in 1998. Dr. Knoebel specializes in General Pediatrics and Level II nursery responsibilities. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Knoebel has one son and resides in Sugar Land.

 


 

     


Dr. Karen Smith-Cook strengthened the team at Pediatric Center in 2005. Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Smith has called Houston home for most of her life.
She received her B.S. from Texas A&M University. Dr. Smith graduated from Baylor College of Medicine with Summa Cum Laude honors. She completed her residency at Texas Children's and Ben Taub General Hospitals. Dr. Smith has staff affiliations with Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Smith lives in Houston with her son and husband.

Dr. Patel
Dr. Shefali Patel was a great addition to Pediatric Center with her much anticipated arrival in 2006. After a time receiving her education and training in California, she is happy to be back to the Houston area, which she formerly called home.
Dr. Patel graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Medical Degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2002 and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Patel has staff affiliations with Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Spanish and Gujarati.
Dr. Patel has choosen Pearland area as her home along with her husband and daughter.

 


 

     


Dr. Vijaya Raju was a great addition to the team at Pediatric Center in 2006. Originally from India, Dr. Raju has a wealth of experience including 5 years in a Houston private practice just prior to joining us.
Dr. Raju received her college and medical degrees from Bangalore Medical College. She completed her Pediatric Residency at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York where she achieved the high honor of a Chief Resident position in 1999. Dr. Raju has hospital privileges at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Mathew
Pediatric Center is very happy to welcome Dr. Christine Mathew to our staff as of August 15, 2012. Dr. Mathew completed her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center in College Station Texas and completed her residency at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin Texas. Dr. Mathew speaks English, Spanish and Malayalam.

Carol Preston started at Pediatric Center in February of 2007.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she now calls Texas her home. Carol received her B.S. from the University of Phoenix and graduated with her Pediatric Nurse Practioner license from Saint Louis University. Her residency was done at various hospitals and practices around the country. While attending school she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau honor Society and graduated in the top 4% in the country.
Carol is now alumni of Sigma Theta Tau as well as a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practioners (NAPNAP)

Lindsey Pickrel, PA received her degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Health Science Center in San Antonio Tx. She has a special interest in pediatrics and she enthusiastically looks forward to helping the children at Pediatric Center.

 


 

     


Jania Dudley is a native Texan who was born and raised predominantly in San Antonio. She graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a B.A. in biology and received her Master’s in Physician Assistant studies from the Health Science Center in San Antonio. Jania speaks both English and Spanish and resides in Houston with her dog, Lily
