OUR DOCTORS

Dr. Michael Bornstein opened his private practice in Fort Bend County in 1993. He established roots in the community and his private practice grew into the Pediatric Center in 2000.

Dr. Bornstein received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Cum Laude honors from Harvard University. He completed Boston University School of Medicine training in May of 1990. After residency, and internship at the University of California, Irvine he received his certification from the National Board of Medical Examiners, Neonatal and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and the American Board of Pediatrics. He has hospital affiliations at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. Dr. Bornstein is affiliated with many medical organizations and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Bornstein is married with two sons.

Dr. Kathleen Knoebel has been a valued associate at Pediatric Center since 1998.

She received a B.S. in Biology in 1991 from Yale University in New Haven, CT. Dr. Knoebel received her Medical Degree in June of 1995 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in June of 1998. She has staff privileges at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. Dr. Knoebel received her board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in 1998. Dr. Knoebel specializes in General Pediatrics and Level II nursery responsibilities. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Knoebel has one son and resides in Sugar Land.

Dr. Karen Smith-Cook strengthened the team at Pediatric Center in 2005. Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Smith has called Houston home for most of her life.

She received her B.S. from Texas A&M University. Dr. Smith graduated from Baylor College of Medicine with Summa Cum Laude honors. She completed her residency at Texas Children's and Ben Taub General Hospitals. Dr. Smith has staff affiliations with Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Smith and her husband live in Houston.

Dr. Shefali Patel was a great addition to Pediatric Center with her much anticipated arrival in 2006. After a time receiving her education and training in California, she is happy to be back to the Houston area, which she formerly called home.

Dr. Patel graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Medical Degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2002 and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Patel has staff affiliations with Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Spanish and Gujarati.

Dr. Patel and her husband have chosen the Pearland area for their home.

Dr. Vijaya Raju was a great addition to the team at Pediatric Center in 2006. Originally from India, Dr. Raju has a wealth of experience including 5 years in a Houston private practice just prior to joining us.

Dr. Raju received her college and medical degrees from Bangalore Medical College. She completed her Pediatric Residency at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York where she achieved the high honor of a Chief Resident position in 1999. Dr. Raju has hospital privileges at Oak Bend Medical Center, Texas Children's, Methodist Sugar Land and Memorial Southwest. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Raju lives in Sugar Land with her husband and two children.

Dr. Anshula Greene was welcomed to our staff to job-share with another one of our doctors. We are happy to say that Dr. Green is now with us on a full-time basis.

Dr. Greene received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Rice University in Houston. She graduated medical school from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2001. Dr. Greene is a Board Certified member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is affiliated with Oakbend Medical Center, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest and Texas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Greene speaks Spanish and Hindi. She is married with one child.
